Spot illustration for a funny story about various things expecting parents don't want their kid to end up being. The ones from the story I used for this image are cyborg, killer, hipster, cheetah and sea monster. This was obviously a super fun assignment, loved it!

Created for Ryan Huddle at Boston Globe Magazine for an article about fun activities for kids on winter break. Really enjoyed working on this one, when I was a kid I would have been WAY into the model trains!

Washingtonian - Private Schools feature

The perfect kid (full page intro)| Washingtonian

I created 3 illustrations for an article on private schools for Michael Goesele and Thomas White at the Washingtonian. The opening full page illustration deals with the pressure to make the perfect kid, with perfect grades to get into the best private school. Michael suggested the idea of using a diamond based on a line in the first paragraph about a parent feeling as if he were raising a diamond, not a child. After a round of sketches and combining two ideas we had it.

This one was about tough admissions at private high schools. Originally the sketch was based on a line in the article comparing the process to that of being at a Senate confirmation. Later we changed it to reflect more of an interrogation.

Ontario Place -ad campaign

Here's a selection of some of the work I created recently for Ontario Place's current ad campaign. I illustrated various park elements for print advertising and for the website. I also worked as the designer creating all characters and settings for a series of animated spots.

This was an absolutely wonderful project. I worked with the agency Draftfcb and animation studio Cuppa Coffee and they were amazing. I feel very fortunate to have worked with and met so many awesome people!

Boston Globe - The Unused Playground

The unused playground | Boston Globe

For a story in today's Boston Globe about the benefits of kids getting outdoors and exploring. The story centers around the idea of parents loosening their grip and letting their kids go out on their own into the woods to learn and have fun. I thought the best solution would be something very narrative, just show the kids happily exploring the woods. I also wanted to draw them to look like Indiana Jones, an adventurer's outfit that seemed like the right fit.

For an article about the name your child will carry with them for the rest of their life. With this one I thought it would be funny to show how certain names come with certain ideas of who the person might be. Looking at it now, I kinda think "Luc" should maybe have a lightsaber instead of a baguette.
