Fit Pregnancy - Manage your M-I-L

Manage your M-I-L | Fit Pregnancy

Illustration for Saralynne Precht at Fit Pregnancy for an article about how to manage your mother-in-law. Love working with Saralynne and loved working on this piece. I was really happy they went for the monster sketch. Part of the article suggests giving your mother-in-law an active role. I used that for the illustration, having the mother pick out the car seat.

Global Power - Economist Ad

Global Power | AMV BBDO

I recently created these illustrations for The Economist's 'Where do you Stand?' campaign. The ads will sit along side each other in the London Underground encouraging commuters to consider the issue and pick up the magazine.

Since I live in Toronto I won't see these ads in the Underground. So if you come across them, please send me photos. I have 5 of these letterpress prints that I am happy to mail out to the first five people to email photos of the ads.

Keith Stat: Dungeon Master!!!

Keith Stat: Dungeon Master | Gallery 1988

Here's my contribution to the Wet Hot American Summer group show opening this Friday June 10th at Gallery 1988: Venice. Keith Stat is my favourite character from the film so it was easy to figure out what I wanted to illustrate. If you're in the area I hope you'll check out the show. Wish I could be there.

Also, there will be prints available of this image at the gallery.

Natural Health - Cash Conscious

Cash conscious (attack) | Natural Health

Two full page illustrations for Yvonne Duran at Natural Health. The article was about making peace with your finances. I did tons of sketches for this one. I wanted to try to give the illustrations a bit of a narrative, one would show the fear and anxiety and the other would show a sense of peace and well-being. Yvonne Duran is always amazing to work with and I was very fortunate that some of my personal work was something that I could use to build on for the second full page illustration.

KRW Awards - Poster

Publishing winner | KRW Awards

I created the poster and was a judge in the illustration category for the 57th annual Kenneth R. Wilson Awards taking place tonight at the Carlu in downtown Toronto. The KRW Awards celebrate the best in Canadian business publishing. I've been a nominee in the past and it was an honour to be asked to judge this year.

There Goes The Neighborhood - Preview

Here's a little preview of a comic I've been working on lately. It's a story I wrote many years ago but until now haven't pushed myself to finish. I want to say that comics are where my interest in art and illustration truly come from. I spent years wanting to draw Spider-Man, then moved on to reading and imitating Chris Ware, Daniel Clowes, etc. At a certain point I stopped working on comics to concentrate on my illustration career. Now I'm jumping back in. I feel like I'm a little rough but starting to get the feel of it again. These panels might get changed or replaced but for now this is the beginning of the story.

Oh and for my fellow Canadians, I know I went with the American spelling of "neighborhood." Please don't force me into exile.
