Arise

Arise | Personal Work

Part of a series of work involving blue and red orbs in a dark forest. With these images I'm exploring what it means to have an idea and the battle and journey to see it to the end, or in other words out of the woods.

I have giclée prints, shirts & skins available to purchase from Society 6.

Indianapolis Monthly - Ticked Off

Ticked off | Indianapolis Monthly

For Emily Johnson at Indianapolis Monthly. This humorous story is about the writer's love/hate relationship with his clocks. Specifically is disdain for his quantum-logic clock and his love for the hand made one given to him by a friend. For my sketches, I really wanted to concentrate on his feelings towards the precision of his quantum-logic clock and I think Emily picked the best one to go to final. This illustration was a good time, har har.

Boston Globe - Not so fast

Not so fast | Boston Globe

Done for Grant Staublin at The Boston Globe for an essay about a mother who would rather her kids remain kids and not be on an equal level with adults. Loved sketching this, it's always great to work with Grant and The Boston Globe.

Ferocious Quarterly - Issue Two

Favourite things | Ferocious Quarterly

Spread from issue two of Ferocious Quarterly. I have some illustrations in issue one and it was a pleasure to create a new image for the second installment. This was a bit of an experiment from my regular work, I've illustrated with photos before but this time I was working with just two colours. I used a picture of my dad and I and covered it with what I was obsessed with at a young age. Mostly Looney Tunes, He-Man, my cat and cartoons in general. Thanks to Nate and everyone involved for inviting me to the party for a second time. I highly recommend heading over to their shop and picking up issue two.

St. Louis Mag - The Smile Squad

The smile squad | St. Louis Magazine

Headline illustration and three spots for a feature on the top dentists in the St. Louis area. Big thanks to Daniel Elchert for his great art direction. I was extra happy to do this job because my wife has family in St. Louis and it's kinda cool to do work that people you know will see.

Indianapolis Monthly - Eat, Pray, Leave

Eat, pray, leave | Indianapolis Monthly

Another one for Emily Johnson at Indianapolis Monthly. This story was about the writer's distaste for dinner parties. When I started sketching I went for more of a combative image but ended up going in a different direction when the title became Eat, Pray, Leave. Many sketch ideas later, we landed on this one.
