AARP: Touch-O-Meter

Touch-O-Meter | AARP

For an article about how touch can change how we think. With this illustration we started with the idea of doing some sort of "Touch-O-Meter" and I went from there to put together a few rough sketches of various designs until we finished with the sketch below. I've been doing more type work lately and this job was a fantastic opportunity to develop my lettering skills. Big thanks to Todd Albertson at AARP for working with me on this.

Natural Health - a bear and a kitty

Bearfoot running | Natural Health

Here are a couple illustrations for Natural Health Magazine. The one above was for a story about barefoot running. This one was tons of fun. I was asked to do a bear running, that's it. I love it!

Boston Globe - The Unused Playground

The unused playground | Boston Globe

For a story in today's Boston Globe about the benefits of kids getting outdoors and exploring. The story centers around the idea of parents loosening their grip and letting their kids go out on their own into the woods to learn and have fun. I thought the best solution would be something very narrative, just show the kids happily exploring the woods. I also wanted to draw them to look like Indiana Jones, an adventurer's outfit that seemed like the right fit.

Cincinnati Magazine - Ghost Town

Ghost Town | Cincinnati Magazine

For a story about a local ghost tour. I've been working with the folks at Cincinnati Magazine for a long time and it's always a blast. I get to illustrate lots of stories about interesting neighborhoods and fascinating characters. My favorite part of this particular story is the ghost truck! It's very Stephen King.
